Receive text messages when Scott Rd is flooded

You can now receive a text when Scott Rd is flooded (and another text when it’s not flooded). If you are interested you must have an account on RMO. Click here to register a new account. When signing up add your cell number to the field labeled “Alert Phone Number”. If you already have an account just add your cell number to your profile in the “Alert Phone Number” field. Here is the link: https://ranchomurietaonline.com/account/account-details

I am using an actual SMS gateway so there is a small cost to me (it’s free for you) to send messages ($0.0075 per message). Messages will come from (916) 680-8399. This number does not route to a phone so I will not get your replies.

That is a great service, Mr. Matt. I applaud both your generosity with your time and your "just plain smarts" in creating this deal. Bravo!

With it raining again I was curious how many people have signed up to receive the text message. I was surprised to see 145 people have signed up.

Thanks for doing this Matt. (What a great advertising opportunity, like if a guy had a Ferry Service across Deer Creek).

I looked at the logs and we successfully sent hundreds of text messages between the "Flooded" and "Not Flooded" notifications. The only failures were on two accounts where the person used their home landline instead of a cell number.

Matt, you might have to put a donation bucket outside your house! You're now up to 1,000 texts...at $0.0075 that's $7.50 to say it's flooded and then another $7.50 to say it's not.

:) It's over 1K total texts for the month since it's flooded a few times. If I had 1K per event, yea I might need to do something to compensate for the cost. I don't mind it though since people find it helpful and this will only occur a couple times per year. Here is this month's usage:
